Companion Care

Loneliness is a health risk we can solve

A friendly face. Good conversation. Someone to walk with and share a meal with. Our companion care isn't about checking boxes — it's about giving your loved one genuine human connection. That connection matters more than most people realize. It keeps them moving, keeps them motivated, and keeps them safer.

Why families choose Haven at Home

We assign companions by personality and interests — not just availability.

The same companion every time builds a real relationship and notices when something has changed.

Regular activity, walking, and engagement keep muscles and balance strong — which keeps falls away.

Signs you might need this

If any of these sound familiar, we can help.

Is your loved one living alone and becoming isolated?
Have they lost interest in activities they used to enjoy?
Are they eating less or neglecting personal care?
Do they seem depressed, anxious, or withdrawn?
Would they benefit from regular social interaction and mental stimulation?
Do you live far away and want someone checking in on them regularly?

Common questions

Is this covered by insurance?+

Sometimes. Check your extended health benefits — some plans cover companion care as home support.

Can companions drive my parent places?+

Yes, our caregivers can provide transportation or accompany them on outings.

What if my parent insists they don't need anyone?+

We hear this a lot. We suggest framing it as "help for you" (the family), not for them. Or as a trial: "Just try it once and see." Most resistant seniors warm up once they have a companion they enjoy.

Can companions help with light personal care if needed?+

Yes. Our companions are trained PSWs. If your loved one starts needing help with bathing or mobility, the same person can provide it — no transition required.

What's the difference between companion care and PSW care?+

It's really about emphasis. Companion care focuses on relationship and engagement — conversation, activities, outings. PSW care focuses more on physical assistance — bathing, dressing, mobility. But our companions can do both as needed.
