Respite Care

You can't pour from an empty cup

Caring for a loved one is a marathon. You need breaks to stay in the race. Respite care gives you hours, days, or weeks of relief — knowing your loved one is in qualified, watchful hands. A rested caregiver is a safer caregiver. An exhausted one misses things — including the warning signs that lead to falls.

Common questions

How far in advance do I need to book?+

For regular respite, 1-2 weeks notice is ideal. For emergencies, we do our best to accommodate on short notice — even same-day for existing clients.

What if my parent has dementia and doesn't understand?+

Our caregivers are trained in dementia care. We approach introductions gradually and use techniques that reduce anxiety. It's possible — it just requires patience.

Can I use respite care just once?+

Absolutely. No minimum commitment. Try it once and see if it helps.

How do I get over the guilt of taking time for myself?+

Caregivers who take breaks provide better care. They're more patient, more present, less resentful. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish — it's what makes long-term caregiving sustainable. Your loved one benefits from you being well.

What if my parent refuses to let me leave?+

This is common, especially with dementia. Our caregivers are skilled at distraction and redirection. Often, the person is fine within minutes of the family member leaving. We can call you with an update to put your mind at ease.
